That's because it seems that the company is working on a dedicated chipset for handling AI-related tasks. As reported by Bloomberg website, the AI chip is internally known as 'Apple Neural Engine' and will improve how Siri handles facial and speech recognition tasks. The inclusion of a new chipset for AI enhancement would also take the load off the A-series primary chipsets and motion co-processors. This in turn may lead to improvements in battery performance.
